Check out this beat-up old Chevy Nova, looking like something that floated out of a Coen Brothers movie. (Sorry about the Creedence.) But what this mad old 1972 Nova hides underneath steelies and faded vinyl is a 5.3-liter LSx engine, complete with twin 58mm turbos, and the ability to break under the 10s.
Running with a Turbo 400 transmission, huffing E85 gas, the junkyard dog Nova also packs upgraded cams and springs. Pushing nearly 25lbs of boost, it covers the quarter-mile in 9.92 seconds at 138.97mph.
Not too bad for an old timer whose front wheels nearly take orbit upon launch.
