This beat-up Chevy work truck is the ultimate sleeper
Racing
Look at this rough-around-the-edges 1990s Chevy truck. Doesn’t look like much, right? Complete with requisite utility-company grey cladding and chipped paint galore, it even has the toolboxes hanging on the bed. What’s it doing at a dragstrip?
Oh, right—the LSx engine nestled under that crappy hood.
That’s right, this is the textbook definition of a sleeper: a car that doesn’t look like much, but has it where it counts. And at the strip it holds its own against a ten-second vintage Camaro, running a 12.09 at 117mph, which is a lot faster than anything with a ConEdison logo on the door. Against a Chevy Trailblazer SS it does a 12.06-second run, and against a C6 Corvette it breaks into the 11-second range and loses by just 0.2 seconds.
That’s our kind of work truck. Looks like just another day at the office.
