1966 Malibu is the perfect Grand Touring car
Test Drive
What is Grand Touring? It’s comfort for four people—and no more—along with their stuff, at high speeds, in impeccable style. You know, like an Aston Martin. Or this 1966 Chevy Chevelle Malibu, mean and black with gold wheels.
Its owner, Enzo Morales, transformed the car over a four-year period into something that can take high speeds and curving highways with aplomb. It’s got an LS3 massaged by Nelson Racing Engines, proprietors of insane horsepower, yet this car has a modest, decent 600 horsepower. A full suspension and all of its creature comforts add to the speed-merchant vibe.
But it’s not a racing car. It’s a special coupe that looks good and goes fast, and not just in a straight line. Imagine blasting across the continent in this Malibu, like, say, all the way to Malibu. Why not?
