Fair fight? Shelby GT350 faces the Camaro SS

These aren’t muscle cars–they’re the best American-made sports cars ever to wear these badges. But would we pony up for the Camaro SS, or the Shelby GT350 as a daily driver?

In one corner, here’s the fastest Mustang yet: the Shelby GT350, with 526 horsepower, a slick limited edition tuned from the factory—with all the goodies we’ve come to revere, like the flat-plane crank and the track-ready suspension.

And in the other, the 455-horsepower Chevrolet Camaro SS, which is the top-of-the-line for now in a very good line, indeed.

But here’s the thing: Chevrolet hasn’t readied a special new top performer for the redesigned Camaro. So until it does, it’ll be down by nearly 100 horsepower while the Shelby and its racing stripes command the attention.
