2017 Camaro SS 1LE laps Laguna Seca faster than fifth-gen Z/28

We don’t have to tell you that the all-new sixth-generation Camaro is one of the best performance cars on the market right now, nor do we have to remind you what a bargain this car is in SS and SS 1LE trim.
What we do have to tell you is that the 2017 Camaro SS 1LE is quicker around the famous Laguna Seca track than the mighty 7-liter fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro Z/28.
Did we mention the 1LE is tens of thousands of dollars less than the 2015 Z/28 was when new?!
Adding the 1LE kit to the V-8 Camaro 1SS adds $6500 to the price of a an SS, but the extra dough buys you suspension components from the Camaro ZL1, six-piston Brembo front brake calipers gripping 14.6-inch two-piece rotors, limited-slip diff and auxiliary coolers.
Trim-specific wheels and bodywork, including a black hood and a three-piece rear wing top off the package.
Motor Trend notes, “To call the 1LE merely a track pack would be a disservice. Not only did the SS 1LE set new all-time Camaro records (braking, skidpad, figure eight), but it also lowered the Camaro’s lap time around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, beating those heavy hitters, the 2012 Camaro ZL1 and 2014 Camaro Z/28.”
