2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Double Cab crash test

2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Double Cab crash test

The NHTSA was established by the Highway Safety Act of 1970 and is dedicated to achieving the highest standards of excellence in motor vehicle and highway safety.

The NCAP (New Car Assessment Program) side pole test as seen in the video above, is conducted with a small-sized adult female crash test dummy placed in the driver’s seat, and is secured with a seat belt. The test vehicle, angled at 75 degrees, is then pulled sideways at 20 mph (32km/h) into a 25-cm diameter pole at the driver’s seating location. This test mimics a side impact crash involving a narrow, fixed object like a utility pole or tree.

So how did the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Double Cab 4WD/RWD fare in this all-so important test?

Overall Safety Rating: 3 Stars

Frontal Crash: 2 Stars (Driver: 2, Passenger: 2)
Side Crash: 5 Stars (Driver: 5, Passenger: 5)

Side Pole Crash: 5 Stars
